It's said on the bottle that it is certified by Ford .
and I would like to know what ATFs are compatible with the LV recommendation from Ford. Is the Mercon LV syn from the factory? For some reason I believe so. And if so, I suppose I would just go with whatever is least expensive on the market. I have found out that AMSoil makes one as does Mobil 1. Does anyone know if D4 from Redline is compatible?

I've only noticed one thing that makes them different when looking over datasheets of fluid licensed as Mercon LV or doubly licensed as Mercon LV & Dexron VI versus fluids only licensed as Dex VI , the Mercon LV fluids have a Brookfield viscosity at -40C right around 10,000 cP where as the fluids that are Dex VI only are usually over .21138 auto trans - mercon lv fluid color some 2008-2010 vehicles, equipped with automatic transmission factory filled with mercon lv fluid (part # xt-10-qlv), may exhibit dark colored trans fluid that may look burnt in appearance. this is a normal characteristic of this fluid and will not affect transmission function or durability. Mercon ULV is alot easier to get than Dexron ULV. I know this doesn't help directly, but in the case of Dexron VI and Mercon LV, as I recall, Castrol has a single fluid that is licensed (not approved, not recommended, not "suitable for"), but licensed by both Ford and GM.
